Where does my money go ...?
100% of all donations go to and are handled through our partner non-profit organization eCharity @ www.myecharity.org.
One obstacle we faced in setting things up was the cost of payment processing for such a small donation size. Through our determination we were able to cut that cost in over half.
Traditional cost would have been 37.5 cents per donation, or 15%
We cut that to 17.5 cents per donation, or 7%
What does that 20 cents mean?
Per 1,000,000 members that's an extra $200,000
going towards our projects and not to the credit card companies.
Every charity has administrative / operating costs; the goal is to keep those costs as low as possible.
During our early days we promise to keep those expenses below 15%, and then eventually drop them to 10%.
Comparing apples to apples, other charities would state that 97% (minus processing fees) go directly to the projects.
That means 7% goes to our processing expenses, and only 3% is used to cover everything else.
